Water Quality

Water quality is most important to Monterey County Agriculture, not only for growing crops but for other beneficial uses.  Increased awareness about groundwater nitrate levels, as well as surface water runoff, has led to a number of new water quality regulations that farmers must comply with.  Continuous improvement of on-farm practices is leading to improved water quality, and future technologies will help to improve fertilizer applications, irrigation efficiencies, and crop management.
